College file sharers overstated

In 2005 a report was published by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), who wanted to expose the amount of damage student at college have been responsible for some serious losses to the industry due to file sharing.

In fact the report blamed student file sharing for a massive forty four per cent of film studio loses due to piracy, which is enough to make anyone pay attention and in fact the US government did. Congress is at the moment considering new legislation to counter the problems of piracy.

But now it seems that the figure may be slightly wrong, and now it seems that the student file sharers are responsible for only fifteen per cent of the loses due to piracy. It seems that the MPAA have a bit of explaining to do over the next couple of days, but apparently it is down to human error!
