Open ID with Yahoo

The idea behind Open ID is nothing new, there have been many rumours that some of the internets big guns such as Google, IBM and Verisign are interested in operating an Open ID framework where a user can sign in on just main account and in turn get access to all of the accounts that they have all in one go.

But with Yahoo jumping in and bringing all of their 250 millions users, this has most definitely brought this application right into the arena.

Before this deal it was estimated that Open ID had around 120 million users, but now Yahoo have join forces with them on this project, the user base will now be around 400 million, which makes Open ID a very large operation giving their users access to over nine thousand partnership websites.
