Prisoners to be chipped

We talk about computer security, where we protect our machines against outside attacks, but today we are hearing about the governments plans to implant prisoners with a chip that has a RFID tag. This can then be tracked and so therefore the prisoner can too.

These are worrying times for the ordinary person in the UK; we are looking at ID cards which we will need if we need to visit the doctor or anywhere else, possibly more!

These chips are the same type which are put into dogs etc, is this a good idea for keeping track of prisoners? Well it would be for sex offenders etc who disappear until they disappear under the radar. But as with many things of this nature, if it was a success what then?
