Big brother is the real deal

It would seem that everything that we have feared about the government listening in on our conversations and having a little look at our emails is not just confined to films and TV programmes.

In the US the National Security Agency have the technology to do exactly that by listening in on phone calls, looking at emails, sms, blackberry and even what we search for on the net, all in the name of security.

This is not physical phone tapping, it’s much larger than that. They have access to the communications network, where the entire stream of data is checked by very sophisticated software running on very large computers. They are looking for specific words and phrases, this may be phone numbers, or email address, once found they record.
