Airport security adequate against attacks
There have been concerns regarding the security arrangements at Durham Tees Valley Airport. This comes after the MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland; Ashok Kumar brought the subject of the airports security up in the House of Commons.
The reasoning is that the airport is used by the general public and military personnel from the nearby base at Catterick Garrison. There are many flights to and from the middle east and therefore could be a terrorist target.
Yet Defence Secretary Des Browne after looking into this has backed the current security levels as enough even though the airport is also used by the military. Because there is a very close cooperation between the military, police and airport security when there are military flights due.
