Online videos a security threat

As more or less everyone is becoming aware of the dangers that lurk within unsolicited emails and other schemes that the bad guys have used in the past. The focus is being directed towards online videos. These seemingly harmless bits of fun can and are being used to deliver the unsuspecting viewer a nasty surprise in the way of viruses and malware.

In a report presented by the Georgia Tech Information Security Centre (GTISC) they say that people are more likely to click on a link to a funny or interesting video without actually giving it a second thought. This is where the bad guys can launch their attack, and people should be taking care when clicking on video links.

This has the potential to be very serious, and there is need for security measures to take this into consideration.
