Your face is your password

NEC computers launch a new way of gaining access to your computer, your face. On the new LaVie C and the LaVie L range of laptops will be a new face recognition software, which will only let the registered image log onto the computer.

The software is called NeoFace and works on the same principle as the finger print biometrics systems that IBM had. Except in this case instead of moving your finger over the scanner, a digital camera, which scans for certain, points on the face allows access. It uses a similar system as the face recognition system that the police and speed cameras use.

This is just one of many security systems that are either already available or close to being ready, some include DNA and blood vessels etc, whatever next!
