$110 million fine for Torrent Spy

Being found guilty of copyright infringement in the US is not a great thing, you know that it is going to cost you an arm and a leg. In this case the file sharing site Torrent Spy has been fined a massive $110 million by a Federal Judge in Los Angeles.

Clearly this aimed at anyone else who is in the Bit Torrent business; such a sum would render any viable business completely untenable, which is probably what the point is anyhow.

Once again a bit torrent site has blocked access for the users, who are based in the States, but this has only cut their revenues down and they are still in serious trouble with the feds. Of course they may have been making loads of money and the fine could just be a drop in the ocean.
