People in Cuba buying computers

Finally for the ordinary Cuban person, they can get a computer and go online, or so we are led to think. For the very first time in Cuban history the government are allowing the sale of computers. However they are priced at around £400 for a basic older style computer, which may not seem too bad, but when you realise that the average monthly salary there is a mere £20 then that puts it right into perspective.

Yet these computers are selling like hot cakes, some people have been saving for years in order to become part of the IT phenomenon that has swept the world over the past few years.

However you can’t help wondering now, that once this new tech has worked its way onto the lives of these people, that we will see a huge increase in the way that technology is used in this somewhat backward country.
