The throw away DVD

The future of DVD rental could be changing forever with the introduction of a new DVD system which is only viewable for forty eight hours. After this time the DVD is rendered unreadable and has no use at all and so can be thrown away.

It is estimated that these DVD’s could be sold for around £3.20 or so at convenience stores or other twenty four hour stores. This would affect the DVD rental business should many of the film distribution companies decide that this could be a good way of gaining new business.

However it is doubtful if we will be seeing these with the latest blockbuster releases at first but if this proved to be a success then that is anyone’s guess.

The system has a chemical coating which begins to degrade as soon as the seal is broken; it takes around forty eight hours, but could be longer if depending on conditions.
