German win for file sharers
It would seem that the file sharers have gained yet another victory in the battle between the media companies and the end users who like to listen to music, but would rather not pay the prices that the media companies like to charge.
It looks like a serious blow to all the various European governments, who have elected to pursue the agenda of insisting that internet service providers remove the connections from all of the people who take part in file sharing.
For in Germany a federal court has passed rule that the identities of subscribers who have shared files must remain private and will not be allowed to be passed over to the media companies who can then go on to take action against the individuals.
Under European law only those who are accused of serious crimes can have details released, so this is going to make things really difficult for governments to demand that ISP’s police the internet for them.
