Spam still getting through security

We went through a period of time when the security of our computer systems appeared to have got the measure of the spammers. But despite having up to date email filters and firewalls, the spammers are fighting back and they are getting through.

Now our inboxes appear to be filling up with e-greetings cards and partially personalised emails that have PDF attachments, the later to business people look as if they were sent by legitimate business, with a brochure or even contracts attached. These do contain malicious software and one slip up, could mean potential disaster.

The problem is that many businesses and business people use certain social networking sites, and there are some personal details that slip onto these sites, maybe a date of birth for example. So, what’s suspicious about receiving a greetings card on your birthday?

The solution is simple, if you are not expecting any documents or you receive cards from unknown friends, and then be very cautious indeed.
