Pakistan removed from the internet

This is something that we hope will never happen to us, but in some countries it is entirely possibly for virtually the whole of the internet to be cut off. This is what has apparently happened in Pakistan, when the company that has most of the countries internet traffic has simply turned it off leaving everyone cut off from the net.

This move is so that the ISP can implement the changes required by the Pakistan Government which is to block all access to YouTube, this is because they see it as a source of blasphemous content, but there could also be other reason as to why they want access to YouTube denied to the population.

Is this the way that internet is going? If out leaders decide that something is not what they would like us to see, and then they will quite simply stop the internet users from accessing these sites? But naturally this is not going to happen because the net has taken on a life of its own and cannot be stopped, can it?
